As we all know, proper nutrition is essential for a healthy and active lifestyle. Eating right and exercising are the key steps towards staying in shape and having a healthy body. Athletes must be very aware of what they put into their body at all times, that way they do not hinder their development and strength. Researchers have found that to be an elite athlete, appropriate nutrition, suitable training and conditioning, and a practical diet is essential for peak performance. Knowing these vital steps is extremely imperative for every athlete’s performance and skill development.

According to my own experiences, I found that that there are several key facts and rules for athletes to follow and live by.

Rule 1: Eat a large breakfast that contains carbohydrates and protein everyday
Rule 2: Carry a water bottle with you and drink several cups of water a day
Rule 3: Sleep a minimum of 8 hours a night, that way the body can repair and recover
Rule 4: Eat protein, carbohydrates, good fast and vegetables at every meal
Rule 5: Avoid fried foods at all costs
Rule 6: Do not drink soda, iced tea, or any drink that contains caffeine, carbonation, or high sugar content
Rule 7: Eat a minimum of 4 meals a day, every 2-3 hours

Being an elite athlete takes a major toll on your body at times through all the conditioning and training, which is why it is so important for athletes to embrace these rules. These rules even apply to any person who is working out frequently and wishing to get into better shape. These seven facts can make a major difference on not only your health, but also on the way your body feels everyday will tremendously improve.
