New York Knicks, Jeremy Lin


Recently, the new phenomenon in the NBA has been the craze about New York Knicks guard, Jeremy Lin. Jeremy Lin, a graduate from Harvard, was claimed off waivers by the Knicks on December 27, 2012 after just being released from the Houston Rockets on December 24. Lin was signed to be a backup point guard behind Toney Douglas, Mike Bibby, and an injured starting point guard, Iman Shumpert. Lin was competing for a backup spot and being the third-string point guard he finally got his chance to play and making his season debut in a game against the Warriors. Coaches and players quickly noticed Lin’s hard work and talent when he continued to have games scoring triple-double’s with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. After his successful runs, the New York Knicks quickly recalled Lin to play on the actual team. 

Lin’s opportunity to play came from the Knicks starting players lack of success his hard work. Lin had only played a minimum of 55 minutes, through the first 23 games the Knicks had. Finally on February 4, Lin had scored 25 points, had 5 rebounds, and totaled 7 assists for the Knicks victory win over the New Jersey Nets. Everyone was questioning where this guy had come from, even his own teammates couldn’t believe his raw talents and abilities to make plays. Carmelo Anthony, one of the Knicks best players, suggested to coach Mike D’Antoni that Lin should start to paly more, and that he did. Against the Washington Wizards, Lin had his first double-double scoring 28 points and a career high of 10 assists. Every Knicks fan immediately fell in love with Lin and the way he played the game. Fan’s starting buy his jersey, chanting his name, creating nick-names, and tweeting him all over the twitter world. Tweets such as #LINsanity, and #LINning  have started to trend, due to all the fans love and support for Jeremy Lin.

Jeremy Lin, was not a high prospect player, he did not receive many scholarship offers to play in college, he was not a part of the NBA draft, however; Jeremy Lin has found and accomplished what he needed to do in order to get noticed, and he has been one of the best success stories. Lin is currently a starting player for the Knicks and has been a huge impact in the past six games. There is a huge future ahead in the pro’s for Jeremy Lin, and he has several fans behind him for support.
