The New York Giants are once again the Kings of New York, as
of late last night. The Giants proved themselves in Super Bowl XLVI to be
champions and one of the greatest teams in football. Never in my mind did I
doubt that they wouldn’t take home the trophy and the Super Bowl XLVI Champions
title that they deserved. The giants proved that although they had a few bumps
in the road, they were still able to bring it together as a team and finish
strong in the end.
The NY Giants are an inspiration to any team that is trying
to overcome defeat or struggles that they may have. Never once did the Giants
give up during their season even when they lost a few games and they never gave
up last night when they were down with just a few minutes left in the fourth
quarter against one of the nations top football teams. Instead, the Giants fed
off their energy and momentum and did something so incredible, they came back
and made one of the best runs in football history to win the Super Bowl against
their rivals, the New England Patriots.Growing up in a household with two parents being the biggest
and craziest Giant fans, I have learned to love the game and the g-men as well.
Last night was déjà vu all over again from just a few years back when the
Giants beat the Pats in the Super Bowl. Needless to say, I was extremely
excited and happy that my favorite sports team had won.
The Giants winning the
Super Bowl also gave me an anxious feeling about my lacrosse team and our
upcoming season. Going into preseason the Cortland Women’s Lacrosse Team is
ranked third in the nation and is looking very strong and fast out on the
lacrosse field. After loosing in the final four last year, we were devastated
and could not believe we didn’t come back with the trophy. We had an amazing
team last year that was extremely talented and had what it took to be
successful. This year going into the season I am very excited to see what is
ahead of us in the future. We have so much potential and have the opportunity
to do what has never been done in Cortland before, which is bring home a
National Championship in Women’s Lacrosse. Watching the Giants win last night
gave me that extra determination to never give up and to respect the talent
that our team posses and all the possibilities that are available to us. Our
goal as a team is to win a National Championship, and I have a feeling that
this is going to be our year.
