Creating a blog has been a new experience for me.
Although I am very internet and tech savvy, I have never had my own blog or
even knew how they worked. So far, I find blogging very interesting and I look
forward to continue to use this program. Posting my own thoughts will be a
great way to express my thoughts and opinions. I am also looking forward to
reading what others have to say and making connections with their thoughts and
experiences.
Over winter break, I spent
the majority of my time observing at one middle school and a high school. I
learned and experienced much more then
what I was expecting. Observing was a great experience and helped me to realize
and create my own teaching philosophies. Working with experienced teachers and
seeing them work in action, I realized that one of the most important traits to
master early on in my teaching career is organization. Both of my host teachers
were extremely organized and always had their lessons prompt and ready. They
had a plan for what they wanted to accomplish and what their expectations were
for every lesson and unit. Being
organized creates less stress and makes the flow of teaching easier and more
enjoyable. With effective lessons, the students will be able to learn and take
in the most out of each unit and lesson. Students need structure and
instruction, otherwise they would just sit down and do nothing. This is one
lesson I learned right away through my observations, which is why having short
transition times and immediate games and lessons set up will benefit the
students tremendously.
